Modern slimline double-glazed units are thin enough to fit where a single pane of glass sits now. Each sash comes out and is machined on the bench to take the new unit, re-glazed, rebalanced for the heavier glass — the original cast-iron weight system handles this beautifully — and re-hung with the full brush-seal system. What goes back into your wall looks like the window that came out. It just works like a modern one.
Because the sash is already out and apart, double glazing includes the complete draught-proofing system — the two upgrades that matter most, done in the one pass. Any rot found along the way is quoted at the published repair tiers, approved in writing before we touch it.

The sash comes out and is worked on the bench: the glazing rebate is machined deeper to take a slimline double-glazed unit, the sash is re-glazed, then rebalanced for the heavier glass and re-hung with the full seal system. The original frames, sashes and look of the window stay.

Our workmanship — the routing, glazing, rebalancing and seals — is covered under our written warranty. The sealed glass units themselves carry the glass manufacturer's warranty against seal failure and fogging, which we pass through to you on the certificate.
